SOME CAROLINE ITEMS IN ACTS OF ASSEMBLY

In Acts of 1884 (extra session), page 176, is recorded an Act
to incorporate The Bowling Green Tobacco Association. The
purpose of the Association was "to promote the sale and trade

of tobacco in the county." The capital stock was to be not less
than $1,000 nor more than $10,000. The incorporators were
James E. Ennis, William T. Chandler, R. Vincent, William
Murray, James A. Chapman, S. P. Trewalla, G. T. Swift, C. L.
Bullard, K. R. Farish and J. M. Hudgin.

Acts of 1887, page 207, records an Act to incorporate the town
of Milford in Caroline. The trustees named are John W. Gill,
W. S. Stone, James E. Grimes, T. B. Gill, Arthur Lyell, J. W.
Knight and W. N. Blatt.

Acts of 1889-90, page 625, records an Act to incorporate the
Bowling Green Cemetery Company. The capital stock was not
to be less than $200 nor more than $2,000 and shares were to sell
for $10.00 each. Dr. C. S. Webb, John G. Rowe, George R. Collins,
A. B. Chandler and William T. Chandler were the incorporators.

Acts of 1889-90, page 231, records an Act to incorporate the
Caroline Railway Company, for the purpose of building a railroad
from Milford to Port Royal via Bowling Green. Minimum
capital stock $200,00 and maximum $2,000,000. W. D. Quesenberry,
John R. Baylor, J. P. Carson, Otway Warwick, Wm. T.
Chandler, W. E. Ennis, D. B. Powers, R. G. Holloway, and S.
J. R. White incorporators.

Acts of 1883-84, page 190, records the establishment of thirteen
voting precincts and defining boundaries of same. These were
Gouldmans, Sparta, Moss Neck, Guiney's, Shumansville, Bowling
Green, Whites, Port Royal, Needwood, Bowers, Cedar Fork,
Flippo and Gray's Mill.
