MEAN:

an important CONCEPT in Confucianism where the idea of universal harmony is a central concept. It is the harmony which underlies our moral NATURE and pervades the UNIVERSE forming a unity between man and nature. The Doctrine of the Mean was one of the four key texts in Chinese education and was traditionally ascribed to the grandson of CONFUCIUS.
