27. The Foolish People and the White Men as told by Sam Kenoi
Many white men came to a big camp of theirs.
They shot at them.
daabóółt'oná'a 'they shot at them'. 3rd person imp. with distrib. 3rd person obj. of hó-...[? perf.]-ł- t'o 'to shoot at' [act. tr.]. Cf. ni- ...[ni- perf.]-ł-t'o 'to shoot at' [act. tr.].
Then they spoke thus to one another:
1. doodaadaał'iͅiͅda 'don't bother them'. Negative 2nd person dual imp. with 3rd person distrib. obj. of daa-...[si- perf.]-ł-'iͅiͅ 'to bother, trouble, do something to' [act. tr.]. daa-| distrib. [?].
2. dánóógho'óondííł 'it will be worse'. dá- 'just'; nóógho 'farther on, more' plus 3rd person grog. of 'á-...[? perf.] - ndá 'to do' [act. intr.].
Then the white men came among them.
Nágo 'indaa bitańjéná'a.
Bighádaada'ishiishná'a.
'Indaaí nádaayótaͅná'a.
They sabred them.
They went between the white men [and their fellows].
