—THE BULLRUSH SWAMP.
The Dog enters, pulling in 'Squire, as in last scene, and pursued by Will-o'-the-Wisp.
Will.
Now, ere you further go, it's understood
You do repent?

'Squire.
I do—I will be good.

Will.
That, in atonement for all past offences,
Jack shall inherit—

'Squire.
All! though that immense is.

Will.
Then, at this bullrush swamp, you sign this deed;
Here, take this reed to write—all right, now read.

[Will-o'-the-Wisp plucks bullrush for pen—'Squire signs paper
Enter Jack and Mother Hubbard.
Will.
Enough! Here's Jack, and Mother Hubbard, too,
The future 'Squire we shall behold in you.
All is attained.

Mother H.
I knew I should outlive him.
However, the young rascal, I forgive him.

[Shakes hands with 'Squire.
Will.
I will redeem my promise—from this track
The shortest cut shall take the travellers back.
Appear, my Fairy Sisters of the Glen.
To ‘Elfin Land’ I change this swamp and fen.
