[Scene viii.]
Enter the boate Swayne Sphiggen and Lawles the master of the shipSphiggen.
Of all the daies and nightes I haue vsd the deepe
soe great a storme and tempest sawe I neuer
to steale soe silently vppon our backs
without the least prognosticateing fowle,
cloud, or the like, this passenger, thats dy'de
in times white liuery, is some Coniurer
thats suffered to returne into this Country
to vse his art in laying worser spiritts
and quieting the land
Cap.
I haue heard indeed
Lawles:
it hath beene much infested by such diuells
as put a barr to all commerce and trade
By frighting our approaches to the Coast
besides they bred such discordes in the land
that we could heare the drums like thunder beate
as we past by vppon occasion.
But now I'm payd the waftage I'le not stay
lest to some new borne custome towle I pay
your whistle hale the marriners aboard.
Sphig:
whistles & calls:
A board, a board my lads lets anckors waygh
119
reenter drunk—
I faith master and hoys sayle too presently
presently
1
I haue my lading
2
And I haue my burthen
3
And I am charged to the mussell.
All:
Letts vp with all our cloath and bid defiance to the
windes for we haue pott valour enough
Exeunt.
