On Stygian Banks, Diogenes the WiseBursts into Laughter when he Crœsus spies;
And thus bespeaks, in thread-bare Cloak and old,
The Monarch famous for his gather'd Gold:
I, nothing leaving, all to Charon bear;
Thou, Crœsus, rich on Earth, hast nothing here.
