36.

Most would buy Heav'n without a price or loss;
They like the PARADISE, but shun the CROSS.
Many participate of Christ's repast;
Few chuse his abstinence, or learn to fast.
Few relish Christianity; and most
(In private) wish their Lord would leave their coast :
Thousands may counterfeit th'apparent part;
And thousands may be Gergesenes at heart .

55

All in Christ's kingdom would the thrones partake;
Few have the faith to suffer for his sake.
His tasteful bread by many mouths is sought;
Few chuse to drink his Passion's bitter draught.
