33. Hail, Goddës Son

Hail, Goddës Son in Trinity,
The second in divinity,
Thy mother is amay.

[1]

Lo, Moises bush shining unbrent,
The flowres fair God there present;
Our Lady with child it be meant,
As prophets said in their lay.

2

This is Gideonës wool-fell,
On whom the dew of heaven did dwell;
The dew of heaven on Mary fell
When she conceivëd Adonay.

3

Aaronës rod without liquor
By marvel bare both fruit and flower;
So God and man, our Saviour,
A cleanë maid hath borne this day.

4

This Jacobës star with shining leme
That Balaam saw in Balak's reme
Figureth Mary, that in Bethlem
Bare Jesu and laid in hay.

5

But God bewrayed by fair figure
His virginal progeniture.
Now Mary's Son have us in cure,
And grant us bliss that lasteth ay.
