Hic incipiunt decem precepta in modum cantalene.

A! mon, ȝif þou wold sauyd be
Foresake þi syn or hit do þe.
And loue þi God ouer al þyng,
Þi neȝbore as þiselfe I say;
Let be ȝour hoþ, ȝour false sweryng;
In clannes kepe ȝour haleday;
Leue ȝe me.
Þi fader, þi moder, þou worchip ay;
Sle no mon fore wordle þyng;
Bacbyte no man nyȝt ne day,
Fore þis is Godis est and His bidyng;
Leue ȝe me.
False witnes loke þou non bere;
Dissayte, ne þeft, loke þou do non;
Lechore þou most foreswere;
Here beþ comawndmentis euerechon;
Leue ȝe me.
Þaȝ þou be kyng and were þe croune,
Mon, haue mynd of þyn endyng;
Þe wele of forteune wil tult þe doune,
When þou art cald to þi rekenyng;
Leue þoue me.
Þou schalt acownt ful sekyrly,
Fore al þe goodis þat God þe send;
Howe þou hast geton hom, in wat degre,
How þou hast holdyn, hou þou hast spend;
Leue ȝe me.
