The Harlot.

Pestis Reipublicæ.

The Harlot is the broad way unto hell,
A laborinth, a ditch, a poisnous well;
She is a nightly glow-worm: Canker'd brasse;
A common Inne, a sink, a broken glasse.
Her love is lust, her lover is a slave,
Her arms are fetters, and her bed a grave.
She doth perfume her wanton lips, and hair,
When her corrupted breath infects the air:
Some fool will venture for a wanton kisse,
As Eve did for an apple, heavens blisse.
Thus children for a nut will part with gold,
Thus Esau for some broth his birth right sold.
Use thy own fountain; stollen waters please,
Lascivious minds, and breed the souls disease;
