Baptismus Johannis erat in spe ad pœnitentiam; baptismus Christi erat revera ad remissionem peccatorum.
The Baptism of water, a good thing
Common to all, cannot salvation bring,
The Baptism of fire, and the Holy Ghost
Must make us live, or else our life is lost.
Baptize me, Lord, if thou shalt think it good
With fire, and with the baptism of blood:
