XII.

But she who bore her guilt, when none
Would heed her sighs—was dead and gone!
She saw her die! and, at her death,
She would have bartered her own breath,
Had she but known it could been given
As current pay to God in heaven!
The one that loved her from her birth,
The dearest friend she had on earth!
Three little moons had passed away,
Her soul got restless—could not stay—
And flew to that divine abode,
Where mortal feet have never trode!
