APPROVAL OF 1984-1985 BUDGET OF FUNDS FROM THE PRATT ESTATE
FOR SPECIFIED DEPARTMENTS IN THE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE AND ARTS
AND SCIENCES

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED that the budget for the expenditure of funds from the Estate of John Lee Pratt as a supplement of appropriations made by the State of Virginia for the School of Medicine and the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics in Arts and Sciences in the amounts of $243,522 for 1983-1984 and $884,375 for 1984-1985, as suggested by the department chairmen, as recommended by the Special Advisory Committee on Pratt Funds of the Center for Advanced Studies, and as approved by the President and the Finance Committee, be and it is hereby approved.

BUDGET PROPOSAL FOR PRATT BEQUEST
Fiscal Year 1984-85

The Special Advisory Committee of the Center for Advanced Studies has approved the following budget for the Pratt Funds in the School of Medicine. In accordance with the Will, funds may be used by the School of Medicine for scholarships for medical students and research. The annual disbursement of the estate is one million dollars to be divided equally between Arts and Sciences and Medicine.

BUDGET PROPOSAL FOR PRATT BEQUEST
Fiscal Year 1983-84

The Special Advisory Committee of the Center for Advanced Studies has approved the following budget for the Pratt funds of the four departments in Arts and Sciences. The four departments designated in the Will were Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics; and the funds could be used in three categories displayed in the budget, scholarships for outstanding students, supplementation of faculty salaries, and equipment. The annual disbursement of the estate is one million dollars to be divided equally between Arts and Sciences and Medicine.
