REPORT ON THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

The President reported that contributions to the Capital Campaign Fund in the form of cash or pledges now exceeds $105,000,000, and that the Campaign still is gathering momentum. He said that 2,000 alumni are working on the Campaign. He said "kickoffs" are scheduled in several major cities in the near future.

While gratified by the substantial total, Mr. Hereford cautioned that hard work remains in the raising of funds for the

Jefferson Scholars Program, building projects, and the Miller Center for Public Affairs.

Mr. Hereford pointed out that two-thirds of the $105 million has come from out-of-State givers. He also said that the giving record to the University of Virginia exceeds that of any other public institution. The President concluded his report by thanking the Board, the Campaign workers, and the contributors for the outstanding record of contributions.
