ACTIONS RELATING TO CHAIRHOLDERS

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED that the actions relating to chairholders be and they are hereby approved as shown below:
  • (a) Elections
  • Mr. Edward W. Davis as The Oliver Wight Professor of Business Administration, The Darden School, effective September 1, 1984.
  • Mr. Sherwood C. Frey, Jr., as The Ethyl Corporation Professor of Business Administration, The Darden School, effective September 1, 1984.
  • Mr. Alexander B. Horniman as The Elis and Signe Olsson Professor of Business Administration, The Darden School, for three academic years, effective September 1, 1984.
  • Mr. Joseph R. Passonneau as Thomas Jefferson Professor of Architecture, part-time, for the period January 16, 1984 through March 15, 1984.
  • Mr. John W. Rosenblum as Sponsors Professor of Business Administration, The Darden School, effective February 1, 1984.
  • Mr. William Rotch as The Johnson and Higgins Professor of Business Administration, The Darden School, effective September 1, 1984.

  • Mr. Sidney M. Hecht, John W. Mallet Professor of Chemistry, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1984, to continue his association with Smith, Kline and French Laboratories.
  • Mr. Verdel A. Kolve, Commonwealth Professor of English, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1984, to accept a fellowship from the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences, Stanford, California.

  • Mr. William W. Sihler, from The Morris Plan Professor of Consumer Credit, The Darden School, to the Ronald E. Trzcinski Professor of Business Administration, The Darden School, effective September 1, 1984.
  • (d) Retirement of Chairholders
  • Mrs. Mary D. Ainsworth, Commonwealth Professor of Psychology and Professor of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry, effective June 30, 1984. She has been a member of the faculty since 1974.
  • Mr. Frederick Hartt, Paul Goodloe McIntire Professor of the History of Art, effective May 31, 1984. He has been a member of the faculty since 1967.
  • Mr. Frederick C. Mosher, White Burkett Miller Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, effective June 30, 1984. He has been a member of the faculty since 1949.
  • Mr. Herbert Stein, A. Willis Robertson Professor of Economics, effective May 31, 1984. He has been a member of the faculty since 1974.
