AMENDMENT TO THE MANUAL OF THE BOARD OF VISITORS

In conformity with Section 5.8 of the Manual of the Board of Visitors, 1975, the Executive Committee indicated by mail ballot its approval of amendments to the Manual Sections 2.4, 4.22, and 5.1 prior to this meeting, and the views of the Executive Committee were submitted to the Board in the call to the meeting, along with notice of the amendments.

• The following resolution was adopted:
  RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the Manual be and it is hereby amended as follows, effective June 4, 1979:
• Section 2.4 (Powers and duties of the Board) - Page 10. Delete Item 24, substituting:
  (24) the election, on nomination of, and with the concurrence of the President, of the Vice-Presidents of the University and the chief local administrative officer of Clinch Valley College, this officer having the title of Chancellor, all of whom are directly responsible to the President.
• Section 4.22 (Powers and duties of the President) - Page 20. Delete Item 4, substituting:
  (4) he shall have the power to establish and modify as he deems necessary the internal administrative structure of the University and shall appoint, or provide for the appointment of all administrative officers except for the Vice-Presidents and the Chancellor of Clinch Valley College, making a report of his actions thereon to the Board at the next regular meeting;
• Section 5.1 - Appeals to the Board - Delete Section 5.1 substituting:
  
  • SECTION 5.1 - APPEALS TO THE BOARD - The Board at its discretion shall consider such appeals as are provided for in the University regulations except that in no event shall the Board consider an appeal from a decision of the Honor Committee involving an honor offense.
  • Section 5.2 - Retirement - Delete the last word "sixty-five" and substitute "seventy".
