• (a) Elections to Chairs

• The following resolution was adopted:
  RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the following person be and he is hereby elected to the named chair as shown below:
• Mr. Marvin Rosenblum as Commonwealth Professor of Mathematics, effective September 1, 1978.

• (b) Changes of Title for Chairholders

• Mr. Henry J. Abraham, from Henry L. and Grace Doherty Charitable Foundation Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, to James Hart Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, effective September 1, 1978.

• Mr. Kenneth W. Thompson, from Commonwealth Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, to Robert Kent Gooch Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs and Professor of Religious Studies, effective September 1, 1978.
• Mr. Anthony D. Woozley, from Commonwealth Professor of Philosophy and University Professor, to Commonwealth Professor and University Professor of Philosophy and Law, effective September 1, 1977.

• (c) Leaves of Absence for Chairholders

• Mr. Norman A. Graebner, Edward R. Stettinius Professor of History, one-half time, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1978, to accept the Harold Vyvyan Harmsworth Professorship at Oxford University.
• Mr. Walter H. Sokel, Commonwealth Professor of German, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1978, to serve as Visiting Professor at Harvard University.
