LEAVES OF ABSENCE

  • The following resolution was adopted:

    1345

    RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence:
  • Mrs. Jeanne C. Biggar, Associate Professor of Sociology, for one semester, effective January 16, 1978, to accept, a temporary appointment at the University of North Carolina.
  • Mr. Carl M. Brauer, Assistant Professor of History, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1978, to pursue research on an NEH Fellowship.
  • Dr. John Buckman, Professor of Psychiatry, for the period September 1, 1978, through December 31, 1978, to study health delivery services in East and West Germany.
  • Mr. Norman A. Graebner, Edward R. Stettinius Professor of History, one-half time, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1978, to accept the Harold Vyvyan Harmsworth Professorship at Oxford University.
  • Mr. Douglas P. Johnson, Acting Assistant Professor of Music, two-thirds time, for one semester, effective January 16, 1978, to teach two special music seminars at the University of North Carolina.
  • Mr. Monrad G. Paulsen, John B. Minor Professor of Law, for one semester, effective January 16, 1978, to continue as Vice-President for Legal Education at Yeshiva University.
  • Mr. Laurence C. Pettit, Associate Professor of Commerce, for one semester, effective January 15, 1978, to accept an invitation to be visiting professor at Emory University, Atlanta.
  • Mr. Hermann J. H. Schladitz, Research Professor of Engineering and Applied Science, (General Engineering), for the period November 1, 1977, through February 28, 1978, to conclude personal business matters in Germany.
  • Mr. Walter H. Sokel, Commonwealth Professor of German, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1978, to serve as Visiting Professor at Harvard University.
  • Mr. George C. Theodoridis, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering, for one semester, effective January 16, 1978, to teach at the University of Patras, Greece.
