The following appointments were announced:

  • 1. Departmental Chairmanships
  • Mr. Samuel T. Emory, Jr., Professor of Geography, reappointed as Chairman of the Department of Geography, for three years, effective July 1, 1972.
  • Mr. Lewis P. Fickett, Jr., Professor of Economics, and Political Science, reappointed as Chairman of the Department of Economics and Political Science, for three years, effective July 1, 1972.
  • Mrs. Anne F. Hamer, Associate Professor of Music, appointed as Chairman of the Department of Music, for three years, effective July 1, 1972.
  • Mr. Roger L. Kenvin, Professor of Dramatic Arts, appointed as Chairman of the Department of Dramatic Arts, for three years, effective August 16, 1972.
  • Mr. Alexander J. Lindsey, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, appointed as Chairman of the Department of Mathematics, for three years, effective July 1, 1972.
  • Mrs. Laura V. Sumner, Professor of Classics, reappointed as Chairman of the Department of Classics, for three years, effective July 1, 1972.
  • Mr. Joseph C. Vance, Professor of History, reappointed as Chairman of the Department of History, for three years, effective July 1, 1972.

  • Miss Susan J. Hanna, Assistant Professor of English, and Academic Adviser in the Office of the Dean, as Assistant Dean for Academic Counseling, for one year, effective July 1, 1972. (Miss Hanna's promotion to Associate Professor, effective July 1, 1972, will not take place before she takes on the responsibility of the Assistant Dean for Academic Counseling.)
