INCREASE IN THE FEE FOR THE VIRGINIA LAW WEEKLY

The President recommended that the fee for the Virginia Law Weekly be increased by $1.00 to a total of $7.00 per semester, and that it be combined with the Law School activities fee ($1.00) and a new fee of $4.00 per session to pay the administrative costs of the new examination schedule.

The Board voted to consider the $4.00 fee for examination costs separately from the remaining fees, following which the following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the fee paid by students in the School of Law for the Virginia Law Weekly be and it is hereby increased from $6.00 to $7.00 per session and that to this amount shall be added the $1.00 per session Law School Activities Fee, with a total composite Law School fee of $8.00 per session, effective September 1, 1971.

A motion to include the $4.00 fee for examination costs was subsequently defeated, there being five votes in favor and 7 opposed to the motion.
