[Peter's a madman, John agrees]

Peter's a madman, John agrees,
To swear the moon is mere green cheese;
Next moment John will gravely tell ye
The sun's all made of currant-jelly;
Between the which celestial views
There's not, perhaps, a pin to choose.
But if it be an act of faith
To say as John or Peter saith,
Let's eat the sun with Jack's long spoon,
Or taste a slice of Peter's moon,
Provided they let quite alone
This little planet of our own.
