Epigram. 77. In fungum.

Faint-harred Fungus that dare fight with none,
When he is drunke will fight with any one;


Is't he, thinke you? No, Bacchus for his sake
The shape of him doth surely vndertake;
Nor is it strange, for in Troy-wars we read,
So for their fauourites the old Gods did:
With drunken Fungus ware you fight not than,
For trust me 'tis God Bacchus, not the man.
