Two Gulfs.

From Matter to Life a bridge to find,
And then a bridge from Life to Mind:
“Too hard,” says Reason. Then let us try
Imagination—spread wings and fly.
“This ether is too thin, alas!
I flutter, I fall, I cannot pass.”
