[See gliding through the skies a star]

“When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.”—Matthew ii. 9.

See gliding through the skies a star
Which floods the world with light,
And guides the wise men from afar,
Drawn by the wondrous sight.
It pauses o'er the manger low,
Where sleeps the new-born child,
In whom God manifest is seen,
Son of the Virgin mild.
