I.
Lyme
to relieve, that old Maritime Seat
By faithful Celey kept with hazard great,
Near gasping, as beleaguer'd strongly by
A Rhenish Prince's Army strong and high,
Form'd of all Nations, who like ravenous Bears,
Thirst after English Blood; whilst he prepares
Himself for Sallies, and thro Help Divine
The bold Assailants slays like Herds of Swine;
Prince Maurice still recruits, still is repel'd
With Loss of Thousands, and at last compel'd
To quit the Leaguer with his Princely Train,
Not daring fiery Lyme to face again.
