UNIVERSITY - COMMUNITY RELATIONS
The President reported that though increased attention is being given to improving communications with city and county officials, a number of problems persist. He noted that many of these problems involve planning officials, illustrating this point by describing difficulties which have arisen over the plans for the Medical Library and the Copeley Hill parking area.
Another cause for community concern has arisen from the handling of University news items by the press. Because of this there has been misunderstanding about the administration's attitude toward drug abuse at the University. Student leaders and the Student Affairs staff are working very hard to enforce regulations related to drug use.
