Charm'd by her tender notes, the kind recluse,
Spoke his delight, in written thanks profuse;
But, anxious never from his vow to swerve,

He means to sing, what his dark mind compos'd,
When from his harp he sought a weak relief,
Which rather echo'd, than appeas'd his grief.

Thus join'd in praising that benignant power.
