OPERATIC.
“What a strain that is!” said Mrs. Partington, as she
heard an aria from Lucia, sung in the highest style, by
a young lady where she was visiting. — “Yes,” was the
reply, “it is operatic.” — “Upper attic, is it?” said she;
“I should think it was high enough to be on top of
the house.” Mrs. Partington does not believe that
mere screaming constitutes melody.
