Summary
Manuscript, Valentine Museum, Richmond, Virginia;
Poe acknowledges an earlier letter from John Allan
which included a check for $80.00. Poe states that this sum of money
will suffice for his expenditures but expresses concern about running
out of pocket money. He proposes to save some money by having Allan get
a piece of linen from a Mr. Galts and send it to him by boat rather than
Poe's needing to purchase it. Poe will then have his Aunt Maria make an
item for him with the linen. Poe also discusses having a book of his
poetry published by Babek and Dunning and promises to have a copy
delivered to Allan.
