STANZAS.
[Oh! check the sigh thy joy that smothers]
Oh! check the sigh thy joy that smothers,
Think not that I can prove untrue;
Nor say, I you shall leave for others,
As I have others left for you.
Think not that I can prove untrue;
Nor say, I you shall leave for others,
As I have others left for you.
No, loveliest, no! for though the youth
Who gains thy smiles may faithless be
To others, who have claim'd his truth,
He ne'er can faithless be to thee.
Who gains thy smiles may faithless be
To others, who have claim'd his truth,
He ne'er can faithless be to thee.
