THE TOWER AT BEAULIEU REVISITED
One true hour of love lies there,Dead in the clear unburying air
Hear distracted Memory call,
‘Who shall give it burial?’
Memory! thou of little wit,
There be three shall bury it.
Let the World, false, vain, and loud,
Be the grave-clothes and the shroud;
Let the Devil's Scorn of Good
Be the heavy coffin-wood;
And let false love be the clay
That hides all from the light of day.
