A Summer Christmas and a Sonnet upon The S.S. "Ballaarat." | ||
But Phil and Hall, as Will had said,
Enjoyed best sport, for overhead,
Soon as the stalkers came in sight
Of one lagoon, arose a flight,
As thick as locusts, of huge flocks
Of swans and geese and teal and ducks,
One after other, steering for
The far lagoon's remotest shore,
Scarce noticing the ambush laid
Beneath the fence's treacherous shade.
