'Tis, Boswell! in thy faithful page, I see
The picture of conviviality;
And raise my warning voice, Beware, beware,
The love of company, the fatal snare.
See, I am seconded, in what I move,
By reputation, fortune, health, and love;

By duty, by enjoyment's self, I ween,
The innocent, the pious, the serene.
