May Wit and Learning once this Isle adorn,
And pert Pretensions be receiv'd with Scorn;
May Homer's own immortal Verse be read,
And no unmeaning Mimick in its Stead;
May This be Po---e's, and This the publick Lot,
To have his vile Performance, so, forgot.
