[No glory could I shew, wer't not the night]

No glory could I shew, wer't not the night
In sable clouds did mantle up heavens light.
When starres are vail'd, and Phœb' her hornes doth hide,
Laying her cresset and attire aside.
The more nights fogge doth maske the spangled spheare,
The more in darkenesse doth my Light appeare;
Nights foggy cold doth make my flame more strong,
And light's more glorious pitchy clouds among.
If you together contraries paralell,
By contrary opposition they excell.
Vertue compare with vice; and you shall see,
This shew his glory, that his infamie.
