The Marigold.

Heliotropium, sive Solisequium est anima mea, quæ sequitur solem Justitiæ, non naturæ.

The loving Marigold his leaves displays,
Glad to receive the Sun's all warming rays.
But when the absent Sun denies relief,
The flower contracted seems to dy for grief:
While the bright Sun of glory shines on me,
My soul is in a joyful extasy.
But when he hides his gracious face of love,
I cannot truely be, nor live, nor move:
