I. K. To his friende H.
The high estate is dangerous,The poore degree is burdenous,
The richer sorte are couetous,
The needie soule is dolorous.
The youthfull imps are prodigall:
The aged thyrst for goods so thrall,
The bolder men foolehard ye call,
The fearefull wights are dastards all,
Then ill eschew, embrace thinges cleane,
Howell, welfare thy golden meane.
Finis.
