Yif hit befalle, þat God þee list visyteWith any tourment or aduersytee,
Thank first þe Lord; and, þy-self to qwyte,
Vpon souffraunce and humylytee
Founde þou þy qwarell, whateuer þat it be.
Make þy defence,—and þou shalt haue no losse—
