[He who drinks beer thinks beer.]

He who drinks beer thinks beer.
And he who drinks wine thinks wine.
O, thou brought up among the Essenians,
Nurtured in abstinence, taste not the wine!
It is the poison of dragons from the vineyards of Sodom,
And the taste of death is in it.
Pray for the living in whose heart,
The struggle between right and wrong,
Is raging terrible and strong,
As when good angels war with devils.
Drink! Drink!
And thy soul shall sink
Down into the dark abyss.
Into the infinite abyss,
From which no plummet nor rope
Ever drew up the silver sand of hope.
Its perfume is the breath
Of the angel of Death.
And the light that within it lies
Is the flash of his evil eyes!
