TO SARAH,

ON HER BIRTHDAY.

So light with airy grace your form,
So wildly bright your eye,
And oh! so eloquently warm
Your young cheek's changing dye!
I guess a fairy godmother
Watched o'er your cradle bed,
And round your pillow charmed gifts
Of grace and beauty shed.
For Time, that aye from other cheeks
Their glowing bloom is stealing,
On yours still blends the flower of youth
With the rare rose of feeling.
