ONLY A DREAM.

A dream of glory and youth and faith,
And a love that should last through life and death.
A dream of a face with violet eyes,
And a smile of a tender, sweet surprise.
With a golden frame of wavy, soft hair,
Of a maiden at once both pure and fair.
A glorious dream, while erst it did last,
That illumined so brightly all my past,—
A dream that was lighted by Hope's bright gleam,
Through golden days,—but only a Dream.
