POEMS.

There are poems I read in a ponder,
There are others I can't understand;
But some poems take me to heaven,
To the heighth of my soul's fancy land.
There are those that soon cause a sad sighing,
Then they bring a great tear to my eye;
There are poems I've tried hard to finish,
But they waft me in glory too high.
Not the feeling to sigh in deep sorrow,
But those feelings alone in the soul—
Those that fill me with awe for their grandness,
Like the sight of the great ocean's roll.
There are poems of humor's light fancy,
But they sweeten a sense far apart
From that grandeur inspired by poems
That sink deep, and appeal to my heart.
