RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO PRESIDENT FRANK L. HEREFORD, JR.

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS, Frank L. Hereford, Jr., was elected the fifth President of the University of Virginia on September 14, 1973; and
  • WHEREAS, under his direction the excellence of the University's students, faculty, programs, and physical facilities achieved national recognition; and
  • WHEREAS, through his efforts, the University of Virginia has become one of the nation's best endowed public universities; and
  • WHEREAS, Frank and Ann Hereford were gracious hosts to untold numbers of students, faculty and alumni, cementing with friendship the several segments of the University community; and
  • WHEREAS, they have won the continuing confidence of Governors, Legislators, Rectors, and Boards of Visitors for unfailing good judgment and skillful and gracious handling of the affairs of the University; and
  • WHEREAS, the students have come to regard the University as one of the most desirable institutions of higher learning, selecting it above all others;

  • NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that expressions of appreciation and gratitude be conveyed to Ann and Frank Hereford for eleven outstanding years of dedicated service, and with best wishes for their continued happiness as part of the University family.
