RECENT MEETINGS OF THE SOCIETY

MR. FREDSON BOWERS, Chairman of the English Department of the University of Virginia, spoke on "Popular Texts and Definitive Editions," at a joint dinner meeting of the Society and the Pittsburgh Bibliophiles on September 24, 1966. The program for the visiting bibliophiles included a tour of the Lawn of the University and an informal gathering to view the treasures in the Rare Book and Manuscript Rooms of the University Library.

On January 10, 1967, a tea was given for Mr. Keith I. D. Maslen, Senior Lecturer in English, University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand, at the Colonnade Club.

MR. RUARI MCLEAN, Printer, book designer, and editor of Motif, spoke at a meeting, sponsored by the Society and the University Press, on Friday, February 17, 1967. His talk was on nineteenth-century book illustration.

A business meeting of the Society was held on April 3, 1967, at the University of Virginia Library.
