29. The Foolish People Go to War as told by Sam Kenoi
"Let's go to war."
daadeebaa 'let's go to war'. 1st person dual perf. of di-...[si- perf.]-bá 'to start to go to war' [act. intr.; di- inceptive]. In the 2nd line of passage 2 will be found the 3rd person perf. of this verb.
There was a big camp.
Łáͅgo bigootaná'a.
Łi' daadeesbaan'a.
Bigootaí 'áháánéyá hokaná'a.
Tł'óół bizáͅáͅyéí 'iłk'idáͅ łíͅbee'iłédaastł'óͅná'aí łii'ń náinláná'a.

Some of them went to war.
They were going along close to their camp.
One of them picked up a small piece of rope which had apparently been used long ago to hobble a horse.
Those with whom he was going to war gathered about him.
They looked at it for him.
1. łíͅbee'iłédaastł'óͅná'aí 'which had apparently been used to hobble a horse'. łíͅ 'horse'; bee- 'by means of it'; 'ił- reciprocal; é- 'against'; daa- distrib.; and the si- perf. of -tł'ó 'to tie, bind'. Literally: 'that with which horses had been tied together, it is said'.
2. hiłdaahíbáí 'those with whom he was going to war' hił- 'with them' plus 3rd person distrib. imp, of ni-...[ni- perf.]-bá 'to go to war' [act. intr.].
Then he spoke thus to them:
dookágo'iisndédałee 'one need not share with anyone'. . 0á-'i-...[si- perf.]-ł- ndé 'to share with someone'. doo-...-da negative; -łee. I cannot account for the prefix go- in the text form.
That is. "I'm going to keep this prize for myself. " The point of the story is that the Foolish People were satisfied and elated at the first poor object which fell into their hands, and turned back without securing any worth-while booty.
Then, from right there, they went back [home].
