HARDY BRYAN CROOM PAPERS, #3772, 1822-1833
Croom, native of North Carolina, botanist, and Florida planter, died with his family in the wreck of the steamer Home which sailed from New York for Charleston in 1837 and wrecked south of Hatteras. Papers in this collection were gathered in the course of litigation over Croom's estate and consist chiefly of his own correspondence. Included are letters concerning his plantation slaves.
