LEAVES OF ABSENCE

The Chancellor proposed and the Board adopted the following resolution

RESOLVED by the Board of Visitors of The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that
the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence

Miss Lia Beretta, Assistant Professor of Modern Foreign Languages, for one year, effective
1 September 1963, without pay, to return to Italy and pursue further study in the field of Italian
literature.

Mrs. Juliette B. Blessing, Assistant Professor of Modern Foreign Languages, for one year,
effective 1 September 1963, without pay first semester, with half pay second semester, to continue
her study towards the Ph.D. degree at The Sorbonne.

Mrs. Winnifred M. Nielsen, Assistant Professor of Psychology, for one year, effective 1 September
1963, without pay, to accept a post-doctoral research fellowship in the Para-psychology Laboratory of
the Foundation for Research in the Nature of Man, at Duke University.

Mr. Robert H. Puckett, Assistant Professor of Political Science, for one year, effective 1
September 1963, without pay, to accept a grant from the Social Science Research Council to conduct a
study on American National Space Policy an Analysis of Civilian-Military Interests in Space, at the
Center for International Studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Miss Josefa Rivas-Crespo, Assistant Professor of Modern Foreign Languages, for one year, effective
1 September 1963, with half pay, to continue advanced study towards the Ph.D. degree in Spanish at the
University of Valencia, Spain
