COMPUTER CENTER

The President reported on the current status of a proposal by Remington-Rand UNIVAC to establish
a computer center and a training school at the University which the Board had authorized
him to accept at its meeting on 12 December 1959. He had received a letter from the Southern
Regional Manager's Office of Remington-Rand UNIVAC notifying him that the decision as to location
had been postponed until late 1960 or early 1961. The President stated he had notified the
Southern Regional Manager that the University would have to withdraw its proposal and re-negotiate
closer to the time when the decision was expected.

The President further reported, however, that he had received an inquiry from the Director of
Training of Remington-Rand UNIVAC concerning the possibility of locating a training school at the
University, which would provide the same equipment as the previous proposal, for training career
people in the service of Remington-Rand UNIVAC. He stated that he would explore this proposal
with the Company and report back to the Board at its April meeting.
