THE WELDON COOPER CENTER FOR PUBLIC SERVICE

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS Weldon Cooper joined the faculty of the University of Virginia in 1947, and at the same time began his association with what was then called the Bureau of Public Administration, later the Institute of Government, and more recently the Center for Public Service; and
  • WHEREAS Weldon Cooper's devoted service to the University and to the Commonwealth, particularly in assisting local and municipal governments throughout Virginia, earned him the gratitude of a generation of Governors and state and local officials;
  • RESOLVED that the Center for Public Service be named the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service in recognition of Mr. Cooper's contributions to the University of Virginia and to good government throughout the Commonwealth.
