Temporary Disability Leave (Sick Leave)

Temporary disability leave (sick leave) with salary and fringe benefits is available to members of the general faculty for the period of temporary disability (up to six months) caused by accident, ill health, pregnancy, or childbirth and the recovery therefrom. At the discretion of the supervisor, a physician's verification of temporary disability may be required.

Part-time members of the general faculty appointed on a twelve month basis are entitled to disability leave, up to six months, at their current salaried rate.

There is no compensation made for any unused leave at the time of separation from University employment or transfer to the classified system.

  • Holiday Leave: same as University Holiday Schedule published annually by the Department of Personnel Administration.
  • Religious Holidays: When a religious holiday falls during a normal work period, a member of the general faculty may request permission to observe the holiday. Reasonable efforts to accommodate the employee's needs by allowing time off are to be made. Where undue hardship on the conduct of the department's operation would result, the request can be denied. The holiday will be charged to annual leave.
  • Civil Leave: Civil leave with full pay is granted to any member of the general faculty for absence to serve on a jury or attend court as a witness under subpoena.
  • Military Leave: Military leave with full pay is granted for a maximum of fifteen work days for required annual Limited Training per federal fiscal year, regardless of whether the training is fragmented.
